What is Camlock Socket and Connector in Data Centers

by Blog

Camlock is a type of a connector and socket for low voltage connection in the data center or in any other system where high currents are used. It is especially useful when you need to have a quick connection between source and the consumer.

Camlock uses quick connection system that allows quick connect and quick disconnect and makes electrical engineer connection easier.

Camlock Socket and Connector

Camlock has mating pair with socket and connector. Socket is installed on the panel that is fixed and connector is used as a connection from the consumer.

Here is a socket that is installed on the panel side which is connected to the source. This socket has a male housing and female terminal. Female terminal is used to prevent direct access to the live terminal.

This socket is fixed on the panel to allow a mating connector to quickly connect.

Camlock Source Socket

Connector has female housing with male terminal to connect on the Camlock socket.

The connector is used from the consumer side to connect and bring the power to the consumer. In the data centers the connectors is used to connect load bank with the power source like UPS or switchgear.

Color Coding

Camlock socket and connector are color coded for easier understanding which Camlock socket is used for. For 3 phase system we have L1, L2 and L3 phase. And each phase should colored differently to avoid wrong connections.

Here are different colors for different countries.
